Free audio editing platforms:

Audio is an integral part of filmmaking and wider creative industries. Audio editing programs are not just used in the film industry but in the ever-growing world of podcasts, narration, voiceover work (especially in this climate), and interviews.

It’s now essential to have a quality audio editing program to help you edit your sound to ensure it’s crisp and of the highest quality for public consumption.

However, one of the biggest barriers to entry is the cost. Audio editing platforms can be pricey, but it doesn’t have to be that way. There are a lot of decent audio editing platforms that cost absolutely nothing.

So we decided to filter through numerous audio editing platforms to find the best free audio editing platforms, so you don’t have to. Price is no more a barrier!

So here we go, let’s check out the top free audio editing platforms below.

The top free audio editing platforms

Here is our breakdown of the best (free of charge) audio editing platforms out there today.

FilmoraPro

FilmoraPro is both a video and audio editing platform, but the audio editing tools and capabilities are one of the best - paid or not.

It rivals the likes of Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve as one of the best in the market. The ability to edit audio to remove background noise, change tones, and to clear up sound, in general, is of the highest quality.

We really recommend this as it is easy to use, the interface is one of the smoothest around and finally it offers quality audio output. Oh! And it’s completely free.

WavePad (Mac Only)

Yep, we know it’s only on Mac, but we couldn’t leave it out. WavePads interface is easy to use and the tools it offers for audio editors are next to none. Perfect for your next venture into creating Podcasts.

The interface is easy to use as stated above, but due to its age, the program is pretty simple to use. It works with every audio file type you can imagine and the audio output is perfect.

You can work with file types .wavs to .mp3s, and WavePad will allow you to cut and edit sound with relative ease.

Audacity

Audacity is a well-known audio editing platform, and you may have heard of it before. But we had to include it. It’s ridiculous how in-depth this software is for an unpaid audio editing platform.

It has multiple features, from removing background noise to truncating silence. These are incredibly useful features that provide a lot of value to the user and are very easy to use.
