I don’t start with assumptions or presets; I start with your film. You’re not hiring me because I already have the answers. You’re hiring me to help you find them. I don’t apply a cookie-cutter approach or slap generic ‘epic’ or ‘cinematic’ music onto your film and hope it fits.
Instead, I’m guided entirely by your vision and your edit. What you want the audience to feel – and what I feel when watching your film – is what starts the creative process.

What I do in most cases is create the core motif at the piano – before adding any orchestral elements.
This is crucial as it allows me to check whether the melody and harmonies are doing their job of supporting your narrative. No amount of orchestral arrangement, nor the most suitable instrumental palette can compensate for weaknesses at this stage.
Think of it this way…. the motif is like the screenplay: if the story doesn’t work on the page, no amount of visual flair will save it. Additional orchestration is the cinematography – it can make something beautiful, but if the emotional core isn’t already there, it’ll just be style over substance.
Once the motif works on the piano – when I can feel it telling your story even in its simplest form – that’s when I start to build out my ‘instrumental palette’.
At this point, I think of the instruments like a cinematographer would think about lenses, lighting, and movement. Each choice adds depth, focus, and emotional texture to the “scene.” Strings might bring tenderness or tension; brass might add a sense of scale or inevitability. But these aren’t presets. They’re storytelling tools, and I’ll use them only when they serve your film’s emotional truth.
Sometimes this stage means building something huge and cinematic; other times, it’s about knowing when “less is more”.
As soon as we start working together you’ll automatically be invited to share a brief and references with me. If you choose an enhanced package, this also includes a 1:1 video consultation with me.
Once I have a direction that feels right, I’ll share a first draft with you; often synced to your edit so you can feel how the music supports the picture. From there, we’ll refine it together. I believe the best scores come from genuine dialogue between composer and director, where both of us are tuned into the same emotional frequency.
Your feedback helps me calibrate the tone and continue refining until it hits the right emotional peaks.

I create platform-ready audio for online streaming (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo), subscription streaming (e.g. Netflix, Disney+), Broadcast TV (e.g. PBS/BBC), Press screeners (e.g. Film festival) and Theatrical (e.g. cinema).
Music is delivered at industry standards for loudness (LUFS), true peak, and broadcast compliance, including correctly folded down stems and LFE management for 5.1 surround mixes or their stereo equivalents.

Yes. This is a feature of the ENHANCED Director’s Score only as this is a time-consuming process and only needed if you’re planning on a theatrical release for cinema (and/or certain film festival screenings).
This add-on provides a dedicated, private link to your music as a customisable soundtrack in Filmstro’s web-app and via an Adobe Premiere Pro music plugin; allowing you to make powerful changes to your custom score without the need to pay for additional revisions. Saving you time and money!

If it’s for your personal project then yes. However, it is illegal to create derivative works that infringe on existing copyright, so for the sake of your project, I recommend creating a ‘style-alike’ which retains the main musical identity of a reference – without infringing copyright!
Of course. If you have a specific instrumental palette in mind I can work to that. There is literally no instrument that we can’t source, reproduce or create! 🎶
No. I’m a bona-fide pro composer, so everything I produce is made from the ground up with acoustic instruments, real performers and very high-quality software tools. As the owner of a UK music publishing company, I’m actually legally prohibited from using AI-generative audio in my published works.
Yes. Music in each ENHANCED package is licensed for your project worldwide and in perpetuity across all media. I retain copyright as the ‘writer’ but the music won’t be distributed elsewhere.
Please note that music created in a STANDARD package may be adjusted and edited so that a version can also be published on the Filmstro music platform.
That depends. For film projects with credits please credit me “Music/Song name by Seb Jaeger”. However, if you’re using the music as part of social media content (incl. YouTube) then please credit me by linking back to Filmstro. Thanks! 🙌
